i have a 1997 ford explorer that is making a noise from transmission there are time where it dose not go into reverse and when i drive forwarder it we let it go into reverse i think i need a new transmission i had a friend tell me that i may need one cause of reverse someone plz help me thinks
Which engine and transmission does your Explorer have? With the lack of punctuation I'll try to make sense of where one thought ends and the next begins....
If the V6 with the 5 speed automatic transmission, the reverse issues may just be due to a sticking valve body/shift solenoid. That's a pretty common issue on the Explorer 5 speed transmission. It probably does not require a new transmission but rather about $500 in parts and labor. If the bores are worn and need to be drilled and sleeved, that will bump the cost up another $200 or so.
What kind of noise are you hearing that you think is from the transmission? Does it change with vehicle speed or engine speed? If you shift to neutral does the noise go away? Does your Explorer have 4WD? Have you changed the fluid in the transfer case if 4WD?
its a v6 and it do it above 30 not under its when i stop or let off the gas other then that my truck runs good just a few thing to get for it and some time it well not go in to reverse i have to pull up and then it well go into reverse like i said other then this its has tlc i have to put in it i well be put a 3'' lift on it when i get the money and thats anothere thing i have is no money so i get to find a more lase cost then 500+200 i dont have that kind of money in my back your lol
