Cant Shake this p0401 Code...

I think I've tried everything...(4.6L, 4x4, manual, s cab)

replaced EGR valve, solenoid and sensor, still codes. Installed genuine FORD DPFE sensor (plastic). Pulled throttle body and cleaned EGR ports, pulled EGR tube cleaned, cleared exhaust manifold at tube exit,... checked for vacuum leaks, wire breaks...still codes.

Everyone seems to believe that this is usually a DPFE sensor issue, is it possible the OE part in my case was the metal one (#F48E-9J460-BB) and it can only be replaced with the same? Are these still available?

What have I not done or overlooked? Is there a go-around?

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

The original DPFE sensor was metal, they were prone to corrosion. The replacement is
plastic.
