ok, i have a problem.

I've got a 2000 f350 with an OEM hitch. The tag on the hitch shows a 10000 capacity

I believe its a 2 inch received. I purchased a Reese adjustable ball mount for a 2 inch received. It fits my van's received that is 2 inches.

The problem, it will not slide into the reciever in the truck. It slides about 2 inches in, but not far enough to get to the lock pin hole.

I've looked in and don't see anything, but there is rust.

Any thoughts? Non standard hitch? It almost seems tapered.

 

Most likely its either rust or the truck has been bottomed out on the receiver at some point and the tube is bent.

 

Stick a file in there and get the rust ground down..... then spray with some Fluid Film or PB Blaster.... keep trying.

 

I got enough rust scale out to get the ball mount in... WHEW, glad I got that worked out

 

Don't know if you used Fluid Film or not, but I have found that it REALLY works at keeping rust OUT after you've done all that work.
