An embarrassing moment. Im trying to remove the alternator connector on a 93' f350. I've replaced many alternators however this one seems to have a unusual terminal connector(to me). Its not the connector to the voltage regulator but to the alternator. It seems that it must have some sort of a release around the plug but I can not figure it out. If anyone can help I would appreciate it. Thanks.
This is odd, there's nothing unusual about the plug.
I'm assuming you have a 2G alternator. (integral regulator and an external fan on the front behind the pulley)
The 2G alternator was known to have problems with the charge plug shorting internally, melting and in some cases even catching on fire.
If you are unable to disengage the plug with the two orange/black wires just cut it off from the harness.
This plug has caused many problems and there is a directive (TSB #96214) from Ford to replace the plug any time the charging system is serviced.
The replacement pigtail plug is available from many manufacturers and is under $10 at almost any auto parts store.
Is this the plug you can't get unplugged?? If so you might want to search for information on a 3G swap to eliminate that problematic and fire prone plug...
