Edge Insight CTS parameters

Edge Insight CTS parameters
I just bought and installed the Edge CTS, mainly because I have a 1000 mile trip in 3 weeks to Yellowstone. I am finding that I am on information overload and need advise on what parameters are best to monitor. I am currently monitoring EGT1, EGT4, engine coolant temp, dpf soot %, and engine load (not excactly sure what that is). Also does the CTS know what the normal parameters are and will alarm if I exceed them or do I need to set the alarm limits?. I drive city and hwy and pull my 13000lb fifth wheel a few times a year. Thanks as always for the great advise.

The CTS is a monitor only and will not alarm or defuel unless you set some limits. The stock PCM does have limits and will defuel your truck when you hit those limits. So unless you have Tuned your truck, just let the PCM do it's thing and you can monitor the CTS.
I use EGT1 EGT4 ECT, Soot% and Voltage. A lot of the other information moves and changes so rapidily, That I can't really read it while driving and like you I have no engineering basis for what is usable or inline.

If your truck is stock, you can bet the computer will take care of things but being able to watch what's going on is nice, too.
I have EGT1, EGT4, IAT, EOT, ECT, TFT, % soot GPL and ARD.
I saw someone mention a week ago here that you can set alarms but I don't know about that; have not tried.

I have analog gauge setup on my CTS; upper left is EGT1; upper right is EGT4; center is DPF Soot level.
Lower left digital is 'corrected MPH"; lower right is Regen 'ON' 'OFF'
I find the Regen on/off does not always correlate to the built in red indicator. I think the red indicator is infered by Edge somehow because I can see Regen go to 'off' and EGT1 will start dropping but red indicator stays on.
I only use the analog for soot for the larger font as it is easier on my eyes; totally a waste for the analog gauge as the scaling is off; which makes creating an alarm off of same no go in non fractional increments.
I have an alarm set on EGT4 at 1200; The alarm is pretty weak as far as how loud it is. It has got my attention once when I was searching for a missing person on rural roads and not paying any attention to the soot level and initially missed it going into regen.
