I had my trans pump bushing installed and I say the guy put it in backward. I say the 1/2 oil groove should be pointed away from the seal. An the guy who did it ays it's right. So if you how for sure which way it goes PLEASE weigh in. I can't seem to find any photos of which way the oil groove goes. Since it only goes 3/4 of the though the bushing unlike the rest of the bushings in the trans.
Now here is a photo of the bushing I got to replace the one that is in there. It is a Clevite 03036 amd the oil groove is alittle longer.
My last question is.... Is this a oil feed hole or is it a return hole in the pump upper housing. It goes all the though the cover into the worm track.
I am so confused I wish I would have just taken a photo of the old one.
Thanks Guys for confirming what I thought !!
Good thing I didn't go on blind faith that a guy that builds transmissions for a living installed the bushing correctly. Now that is scary!!
Monday I am going to another transmission shop to have it done or I am going to go back to the same shop and see what they say. I can't complain since they didn't charge me anything. But I did tip the guy $25 for doing it.. He also installed my direct drum bushing, ext. housing bushing and he didn't screw them up. But the ext. housing bushing has No oil grooves and the direct drum oil grooves go all the way though.
So what do you guys think I should do...Go back or go somewhere else??
DOG, i'd go back to same place and have it fixed. Really, the only reason is, so he knows for future repairs, to not "shoot from hip", but to double check his own work. Selling items that we know that are ****ty, is 1 thing, but to perfrom work not knowing, and someone that catches the mistake and not confront them, would be another.
I had a problem with blowing the front seal out. The recommended fix was to notch the bushing where the drain hole is and to enlarge the drain hole to 3/16". Just thought I'd throw in my two cents.

Are talking about the notch in the top of the bushing. If so that is the type of bushing that is put in backwards. The new one doesn't have that notch for draining. So you basically just answered one of my other questions and that was what was the hole up by the seal for. Is that what you are talking about??
And Timmy you are right !! I just don't know if I really trust this guy now. Besides when I have it installed I am also have the pump halfs put together and aligned with the band clamp and torqued. Do I really want to trust this guy with that. I don't know what I am going to do yet. But thanks for your input.
