Strut Studs/Leveling Kits

I have a 2004 F150 FX4, I had to change the ball joints out, and since I was in there, I was going to take the time to change the struts out at the same time. Looking at the old struts and new struts the studs at the top are shorter on the new set, and i can't put the spacer on the new ones. Any idea if i have different strut or different length studs that I could get. Thank you all in advance for the help.

What brand did you buy? I just replaced my struts with Monroe quick struts and everything went back together the same way.no issues. Maybe you just got a bad set, or that brand isn't that good.

Also, if the studs aren't long enough for the spacer are they long enough for the strut mount? Maybe these are the wrong struts all together

Thanks for the quick reply, They were the right struts, i double checked, instead of the studs being just 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch on my old struts they are the 2 1/2 inches on the old ones with a polyurethane spacer to go between the strut and strut mount

Ok, the new struts have the appropriate length studs. I'm pretty sure the poly spacers come with a threaded adapter to lengthen the stud, that's what is on your old strut. That should be able to be removed and reinstalled on the new strut

thanks again for the help, no it's not like the leveling kits i've seen online, these studs are longer and instead of bolting to a spacer, a spacer just slides on, the bolts run through the spacer instead of bolting to it

Put vise grips to them, I bet they pull apart.

Look at the parts that come with this poly kit
Check out this item I found on eBay: **************/Hx93nV

i went and tried that they won't come out, putting the vise grips as tight as you can get them they won't budge, tried using two nuts to get the off as well, that didnt work either, my spacer almost looks like that, i'm gonna look again and see if i can get a name off the spacer
thanks again for the help i really appreciate it

If its not that, the person that put the level kit in may have put in longer studs. They may have broken down the strut and replaced the studs.hopefully not because that will make your day tougher, but you never know

that's what i'm starting to think, what do you think would be the best route to go? new leveling kit that is updated? or break down the strut?

I'm thinking new leveling kit to save myself in the future
