lamp on shift for overdrive?

lamp on shift for overdrive?
my lamp comes on all the time, have to push the shift lever down a hair to get it off, then its back, very annoying and bright when driving at night.. anyone else have this problem, and how do you fix it? thanks.. wayne

Most likely, you have the beginnings of a frayed wiring harness where it exits the shift lever tube. Depending on which wire happens to ground out, you'll either get what you're seeing, a blown fuse, or no control of the OD CANCEL function.
Remove the column shrouds and inspect/repair it.
