Hey guys iam putting a 09 rear bumper on my 07,are the reverse sensors the same.i had to drill the holes on the newer bumper and buy the new sensor holders.just wondering if the sensors are the same.thanks
It's not as uncommon as you might think. Believe it or not, a set of front sway bar links for a current model year Mustang is IDENTICAL to the changed up part number you look up for a 1995 to 2003 Windstar. Just to add another piece of useless information to add to your brain.
Speaking of reverse sensors.... My 04 has them and I washed and waxed truck the other day.... (I am trying a new concept.... use wax to hold a vehicle together instead of rust and bondo...) Now my reverse sensors are not working..... you put the truck in reverse and you hear a click and the sensor indicator on the switch goes to off after a second of beeping. I noticed saturday after the wax. I figured it was just some water in plug and would dry out.... 3 days later no reverse sensor.
Put the truck in reverse ... either with a friends foot on the brake or a chock under the wheels ... and put your ear close to each sensor. The working one(s) will be making a barely audible sound and the affected one(s) will be silent .... that's if the sensor is the issue. Wiring or fuses could be a problem too but if it just happened after washing the truck then its likely moisture has gotten into the sensor.
For what it's worth, I replaced more than my share of main Park-Aid wiring harnesses on pickup trucks dues to "green death". I blame this on where the wiring is situated, where water gets onto very easily. Those of you who are insistent on keeping your Park-Aid system completely functional, it wouldn't be a bad idea to reinforce the electrical tape wrapping of the factory wiring with shrink tubing as well as lubricating each of the four connector to sensor connections with liberal amounts of dielectric grease and then wrapping with electrical tape around for a flawless seal from the elements.
This is something that I'd like to fix at some point. My wife doesn't care for driving the truck without the aide of the reverse system. She got spoiled with the Expedition...
My "off" light is illuminated all the time. Is it possible to hear the sensors clicking with the diesel engine running? Does the engine have to be running or can the key be in the acc position? How much of the wiring harness should be replaced?
You'll need to have it scanned for the Park-Aid system codes to determine what part of the system is faulty. For what it's worth, each park aid sensor is pretty pricey. Go to your nearest Ford dealer to get a price on part number 3F2Z-15K859-BA for each sensor.
I could be wrong but from what I remember not only does the truck have to be running but it has to be In Reverse. I believe the system is powered up by the same circuit that energizes the Reverse lights. So the light is always off till the column is in the reverse position.
