1996 Centurion tow question

Hi all, long-time lurker first time poster:

Looking at what appears to be a great shape 1996 F350 7.3 DRW 4x4 Centurion, E40D tranny, don't yet know the axle ratio. I want it to haul a camper & small toy trailer, and sometimes a rather large 5th-wheel. With the frame extension, wondering if anyone has much knowledge about problems carrying & towing loads? Have searched the forums here without success. Thks,

Peter

They knew what they were doing building these trucks and most of them were used as long distance haulers for the extra comfort and room. Dont exceed what it was built to do and if its in the shape you claim Im sure it will be trouble free. I have never owned one to speak from experience but have had many friends with them back when they were new.

Welcome to the posting side of FTE I read this before and decided to post as it got near the bottom of the page with no replys. As I said I dont have personal experience towing with a centurion but know they were solid builds.

I think the whole thing is an F-350 frame (only the body part of the Bronco got added) and the wheelbase seems to be about the same, so I'd say you have the same towing capacity of the F-350.

How do you plan to tow a 5th wheel on it?

I'm guessing this is a pickup, since it's an F350, and not a Bronco. Unless they added to the original cab to make it longer, it should be a factory Ford frame.

Mine is an F150, and the frame was stretched. They did a fantastic job on the framework, although the longer wheelbase amplifies the already present F150 frame twist. My plan is to either box the frame or plate the outside of it to lessen the twist.

I thought all Centurions were Broncos. I wonder what the OP has.

Nope. Centurion modified lots of different trucks. Vans, 1/2 tons, and even stretched crew cab duallys with extended cabs grafted on.

Of course, I didn't find this out until I bought my 1/2 ton and did some research.

I see, just like Dodge's Megacab.

If I remember right the rear roof comes off after the back doors like a Bronco. I guess you could put a 5 wheel receiver in there.
