Power Loss Uphill still, tackled EGR

So I posted I was losing power up hill back in Oct of last year I believe after I installed a new muffler. Well I still had it and now it's a bit more subtle than what it was. I spoke to a Ford Mechanic and he told me to pull the down stream O2 Senors, and drive it, which I'll be doing once this 90 degree week passes. Last week I checked the EGR system.

I pulled the EGR tube from the valve, and then from the adapter in the exhaust manifold, but the bolt was "rust welded" to the adapter. Had to break it off and get a new tube, but was able to salvage the adapter. I decided to look into it further and I don't recall anyone here mentioning it before and Googled, EGR cleaning, and came up with a post on the Expedition Forums, as well as Mustang forums. There is a channel in the throttle body for the EGR, so I decided to pull the TB and look, and my channel was clogged. Soaked it in, Seafoam spray and mineral spirits, then dental picked the channel for 90 minutes. The clog was nearly rock solid. That got me 1/2 way there. I used a cleaning rod, and brush for a .38 Special barrel from my gun cleaning kit and went to town. 30 minutes later, channels were blackened but hollow.

Since, I've noticed a better response in pickup/take off. I'm losing a little power up hill but not nearly as much. O2 sensors I'll pull soon to check the cats, still gotta test the fuel pump via a full tank of gas in the near future. And it sounds like I'll need new control arms, mine are squeaking to no end over bumps and while turning. Found a deal on Moog Uppers but lowers are gonna require my 1st born . . . If I had one.

Hope this helps anyone looking at the EGR system. Had the bolt not broken off on the adapter the whole process woulda cost me $10 in gaskets and only a few hours. As opposed to 2 days and $70+.
