I have a 6.0, with the sct programmer,(and delete kit) i have it set in street mode.before i had the change done, there was no surge, stall, rough idle. i have sunk a bunch of money into it so far, changed, fuel pump, tps assemble,etc,etc..) now i am told to put it back into stock mode by the mechanic, and see if it is just a bad programmer,(which it could be, i hope i get that lucky,as its under warranty)has anyone else here had these symptoms, i described and found out it was the programmer, not the sensors on the truck, needing replacement?
There's always the possibility of receiving a corrupted tune. It can be no fault of the person that wrote the tune. The email process can change things in rare cases. It only takes a few minutes to go back to stock and see if the issues are still present.
thanks, i am hoping its the programmer, parts, are nickle and dimeing, me to death, but at least i have new everything, when i stall, sputter, and surge..............
i put it in stock mode this morning,it drove fine..........so far. so, maybe, it does have a bad sct programmer, will drive it again later,to make sure. yes, maybe a custom tune will be the way to go,will have to check into that,as well..
yep, i put mine back into stock mode,it ran good the first two day,but now have the same problems, i did look at the harness and other pigtails, but am almost thinking FICM is bad,as it never throws a code, when i stall out, surge, buck or miss out.(like you turned the key off, then back on) i hate to spend the bucks again at a shop.tell me what you find! i don't believe its my programmer now..........hope full it is a chaffing wire!lol!!
the tunes that come with the SCT SF3 (P/N 3015) are good for BONE STOCK TRUCKS that are exactly as they were from factory.
change anything, and you should be running custom tunes. SCT has to account for so many variables that the tunes they give you are pretty wimpy anyways.
if the truck is driving fine with stock PCM tuning, I'm going to say that the SCT tunes are the issue. I suggest you contact Matt @ Gearheads for his SRL (non studs) or SRL+ (with studs) tune. I love my SRL. I won't drive the truck without it.
it's $150, but worth every penny. before you throw anymore money at the truck, I suggest you get one. it lets you monitor everything the PCM sees. You can use it to verify your FICM voltage
everything scoped out proper when i had it in there, all was operating where it should be,no codes. the sct was put on a stock truck,no other programs had been loaded.it never does its thing with the mechanic driving it,ever!lol! but it sure is a scary ride when i drive it! it is one of those 6.0 mystery's.its got a bunch of miles on it,so maybe it does have a short.before i put the delete kit,and programmer in it,it never had done this.maybe some dirtdown a sensor, from being pulled apart? it has all new injectors in it too.......48v.on the money, everything, like i said, checks out............sad,aint it!
My ficm votages checked out, i can monitor 3 of them with the torque app I had a bad logic board, ed fixed it up pronto Im checking for chaffing today & installing more wire loom/tape around the wires today!
curt, PLEASE let me know how it goes, i just took a 4 mile trip, drove fine while it was still on the cool side, put it in park here in the driveway, the idle went up and down, smelled exhaust all in the cab,not outside though, so, i floored it,(snort, like a gas engine) it leveled out abit, but did the surge act too, i had driven over a bump, coming in the drive,so maybe it is a bare spot.......good luck with that tangle of wires!whew, there sure are a bunch to check.
thanks curt!! will check it out, instead of humming, and hemming inside the engine bay, i am small enough to fit in there though!lol even have room for my coffe cup(but not near the wires!!)
