Temp gage

Still working on the 80 F100 with the 4.9L I6 Can some one give me an idea of where the water temp gage connect to the engine? have a haynes manaul but really doesnt pinpoint where it connect too. thought it would be with the thermost housing but dont think so.

Ford had it at the rear of the block, passenger side, a couple of inches below the head. If mounted there you are reading the temp in block. If mounted in Thermo. housing, you're reading temp of heated water leaving block and going into radiator. Diff. guys prefer one or the other spot for their own reasoning.

Thanks for the Tip will check there. Dont know if my temp Gage is working correctly so will check that spot out. I wounder if i need a new sending unit or sensor.

The oem gauge is not the best. It is always better to get a proper reading with a aftermarket gauge.
