Same as scrapping a 91....
Is it a 150 or 250. Big weight difference
The 150 probably weighs 4700-5000. Do whatever scrap price per pound is.
I'd say part it out a little with the easy stuff then junk the rest
Do you mean hauling the whole truck to a salvage yard or parting it out? Salvage yards probably have a set price they pay for scrap cars like $50-100. You might get like $300 or a bit more if you part it out if the body is in good shape. It all depends on truck.
Id say sell stuff off it you can real easy and then if you bring it in yourself to scrap yard it's by the pound. If you call a junk guy to take it they give a certain price.... Usually. But they still screw you.
I scrap cars once a year at my place. I strip off what I think I'll need, flatten them out with the tractor, and stack them 3 high.
It's worth bringing the stuff in yourself if you have the resources. If not, then it's worth having someone come get it.
I pay for scrap cars depending on weight (about 400-500 for pickups) and tow them straight to the crusher. I have paid 550 before for an extended cab chevy 2500 dually. It depends on how the price of scrap is doing in your area.
I remember an '88 F-250 6cyl stick I did only weighed 4400 IIRC. My 1997 F250HD 351 auto is 5300 though.
Why is it being scrapped? Best bang for the $$$ is part it out like the others have said. Dash trims for the 92 to 96 are in need as they break apart. Speedo(psom) is another item that I see others need. ECU/wire harness, tidbit items and ect, those parts don't weigh much at all and you make more$$$ pulling them than just letting them go for scrap. I done this and made probly $200 to $500 more than just the $400 I got from a vehicle I last scrapped!
Why not just sell it for parts or repair? You will probably get more from someone that's actually going to use the parts or fix it than you would from a scrap yard that's just going to crush it.
Your best bet is to put an ad right here on FTE and say"Scrappin Out A 1991 F150" and let the request flow in! People will ask for crazy, little stuff and pay $10 plus shipping for it! Then after a few weeks of people pickin at it, haul the rest to the junkyard. Prices were down in my area... $160 a ton
why scrap it if anything sell it to sombody who is going to fix it or use it for parts or part it your self till every last good part is gone or part it for a while then haul whats left to a slavage yard where at least somebody else will use and need good parts. no need to be wasting any good parts too many people do that already. if you were in my area id buy it whole from you right now.
Okay I'm selling it, let's see what we can get for it. Turns out it's just more than I want to chew... But it's only a warped cylinder head. Got all the gaskets and its ready to be put back together... 'cept the head.
