Rear air issues!!!

Well my blower motor only blows on high which IMO points to the resistor, went and bought one and still only blows on high. Tried to test the plug that goes to the resistor but couldnt get anything, shouldnt there be 12v going to the plug and then step down to the resistor until high is selected then 12v bypasses the resistor all together? Blows strong and cold, too cold actually since we cant turn the blower down so we have to turn it off for a few minutes. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hey Mark. Sounds like you have a good grasp of what you are doing. Good researching!

Does the motor act the same no matter what controls you use, front vs rear?

The motor stays in the "off" position until I put it on high no matter if I use the rear controls up front or the rear controls in the back. Its like its not getting juice to the lower speeds but the switch (*****) work fine as it will change from floor to vent and back, the only other issue is the control board that is sticking just above the blower motor isnt working correctly, it wont change temp but I only need air anyway so Im not worried about that part right now, just the blower speed.

Sure sounds like the rear control board as you have eliminated the resistors in the switches. The next thing that is common between the two, as far as I know, is the board. I would let you try mine if I lived nearby.

Thanks. Motor works with both resistor and board unhooked. Is there a relay somewhere other than the regular fuse box.

Well on our trip the rear blower worked at all speeds most of the time. Im assuming a loose connection somewhere but not sure where to look. Its still not working all the time but for now ill take working sometime over never.

Had the same issue, cut the wires, put individual spade connectors on and pushed each in. Just keep track of order. The factory plug was bad do to heat damage. Might be your problem. No relays as far as I've found.

Are you talking about the connector that plugs into the resistor?

I bet he is. Was a issue in some older Fords I had, too. Plug would melt inside.

yes, the heat also made the copper braids brittle, so i had to strip te existing wires back kinda far till i got good shiny copper. then i just lenghtened the by soldering matching gauge wire to each one.
