harsh 1-2 shift E4OD

i thought i had a thread a while back but i cant find it.

ok so heres the history.
when i got the truck i had no shifting issues.
i installed a b&m stage 2 shift kit because i wanted firmer shifts, the shifts were not bad but got VERY harsh so i dropped the pan again and swapped in the stage 1 springs that were in the kit. and the 1-2 shift didnt change, the others seemed a bit better.

the tranny filter fell out of place shortly after this causing stalling. i replaced the aftermarket filter with a OEM ford filter and that fixed the stalling.

i finally got fed up with how it was shifting and removed the shift kit all together and replaced the springs with stock spring set. the only remains of the shift kit is the hole that had to be slightly enlarged in the separator plate. and the 1-2shift still didnt change and the rest feel as if it was stock.

each time i cleaned the valve body throughly with brake clean and let dry. i ensured the parts all moved freely without getting hung up.

i have replaced the motor mounts once and now the transmission mount twice.

-my speedometer works normal with no jumping or eratic behavior.
-there are NO CODES, yes i checked no current or memory codes.
-i back probed the tps and the readings are not jumpy, it is a smooth up and down on the meter.
-i checked and re checked the plug on the coil pack, the wiring and the plug are in good shape and have been di-electric greased.
-I put the truck in neutral and removed the shift lever from the mlps and the notch is lined up where it should be. i greased that connector too.

it shifts HARD at light throttle and full throttle.

im about ready to go to pick n pull and get another tranny. buy my truck only has 179000km on it.

any suggestions or things to test?

any ideas

Disconnected the battery this Morning for 5 min and it still shifts the same. With no codes or the OD light flashing is it atually in limp mode? Or do I have something internal messed up

Just an idle thought:
I'm wondering if the enlarged hole in the separator plate is the culprit.. I'm not familiar with the kit you used, but if the hole was the passage for the fluid on the 1-2 shift, it could be supplying oil too fast for a smooth shift..

That's more than just an idle thought. I suspect that's the problem.

Damn lol, I didn't want to have to pull it all apart again.

I couldn't find a plate when I was looking for my springs.

Any leads on the separator plate and the gaskets?
