I had a thread earlier about it shutting down while driving. This went on for a while. Everyone kept saying fuel pump, I was not convinced becuase it never lost fuel pressure. It got to a point if I unhooked the battery and control module on the fire wall it would not happen again for months. Finally it died and would not start. Put some fuel down the throttle body and it started. So ok fuel pump. Got a new Motorcraft pump and filter pulled the tank replaced the pump put the tank back and replaced the filter turned the key on no fuel pressure checked the fuel pump relay it's good. Still no power to the pump.
What is the module on the fire wall????
It has 3 large conectors with cam locks.
Manual says relay 303 is to be serviced by a dealer. It controls the fuel pump and other fuel related systems.
Need help Not a big fan of the stealerships.
Got it out of park so it could be moved.
Found a site about electrical problems and how to replace the fuse block on an 03 Expedition becuase of the 3 none replacable relays Ford has installed on the backside of the fuse block. The author says it is common for the fuel system relay on the back to go bad. I will be checking this out over the weekend and report back.
It has 140k is this an issue others have seen.
The circuit board and relay in the fuse block is smoked. Off to the dealer 344.07$ You would think this would be a recall item. The dealer's part guy say'a yea we know all about the issue and the exact part you need and it's been updated. I wonder how a Ford employee would feel if ther family is cruising the expressway and there engine just dies like the key was turned off. We had it to the dealer twice never a mention about this problem. Just it did not fail while here and no codes were found.
Ordered the part yesterday. Dealer called a t 10am parts in. I was suprised I was thinking Monday. Went picked it up compared the old one looked just alike . Got home 20 minutes later the Expy is running again. Hope this helps someone. It sure cost me about 500 more than it needed to. But now she has a new pump with 0 miles so it should be good for awhile.
