good day all,
todays question is about the strengeth diffrence between a 7.5 & a 8.8 ?
my 2000 ranger has the 2.5l , 5 speed, and need a lower geared rear end .. because i'm running bfg a/t radials @ 33x9.50x15 , and that we have a 2200# tent trailer... i ran the numbers on the gear calulator, and the high was like 4.33 and the low was 4.88 ... also all i drive like granddad cause i flipped a baja back a ways and have compressed disks... so super accleration and racing things don't come into the picture .. my question, is from your own experience, a little advise would be appriceated...
thanks all,
have a great day,
ray
The difference is substantial between the two, but with a four popper you wont have to worry. I wheeled the hell out of my old ranger with a 2.3 and 33x10.50 swampers and the 7.5 never gave me any problems
The 8.8 is alot stronger than the 7.5 but as garthneddy said the 7.5 will serve your purpose just fine. We put a 5.0 engine in the boy's truck and it has a 7.5 and we have pounded it with no problems for over 5 years.
hey all,
thanks for all your input and help..
sounds like if i get a l/s unit and gears... i'll
be in good shape, and save a little $$$..
again thanks ,
have a great holiday,
mahalo, ray
