technically couldn't i get all those parts for cheaper at a salvage yard if they appear to be in ok shape? like the ignition module and the coil and the distributor?

well I looked up all the parts and it would only be like $250 from oreillys for new parts. but the wife tends to not like when I stick money into the truck.. I think I'll go look for an ignition module from the salvage yard and possibly a distributor then get a new cap and rotor.

So I should just look for an old bronco or ranger that doesnt have the feedback carb then I would be able to ****** a distributor and carb and ignition module in one shot as long as the distributor isnt rusted and seized into the engine?

Don't transfer someone's old problem to your rig...........This is the time to ante up and buy new, you will be glad you did.

Make certain the 2150 you get is off another 2.8 or a 302, not a 351,390 etc!
Then put a quality rebuild kit in it.

I guess thats true.

So it's started a couple times but it dies. and when I open the choke to look down the carb, gas is dripping even with the throttle closed.

I can't get the electric choke to work, I put my multmeter on that wire that connects to the nipple on the choke and it read 0.5 volts when I'm cranking it.

the choke pull-off is working but the choke thermostat isn't working.

I dissasembled the carb again and got it sitting in the dip again. I didn't see anything that I put together wrong on the carb.

Any ideas?

well it's fixed. I re-assembled it and used the old needle and seat that was soaking in the carb dip with the rest of the carb and re-adjusted the float height and it runs. And now the chokes opening by itself so mission complete.

Rusn much better now, before the rebuild if I would drive down a hill at the bottom of the hill when you would start getting back on the accelerator it would start to stall but not anymore and doesn't have hard starting anymore.

thanks for the respones guys.
