power steering pump problems

i have a 2008 6.4 and im new to these trucks. i am used to working on my 7.3. some people tell that you have to remove the cab to work on these trucks. would i have to remove the cab just to change a powersteering pump. i would hope ford isnt that dumb... anyone out there ever change one all the help would be great

There's a cab on and cab off procedure for everything on these trucks. Sometimes it's just a matter of comparing the quantity of parts and amount if work required to repair with one way or the other.

Nope, remove the fan, shroud and stator, the pump is held on by 3 bolts.

I agree. Replacing a P/S pump is not as difficult as it looks on this truck with this engine.

Well, I just did it with only removing the shroud...wish I had removed the fan and stator! What a PITA it is to replace a PS pump on the 6.4...design engineers were sadists...
