If you get a dana 60 from the late 80s, it'll have king pins instead of ball joints. That makes it a little tougher.
But anyway, figure about a grand for a good Dana 60, and maybe a couple hundred more if you have to buy tie rods and a drag link and such. If money is tight, consider a Dana 44 from a 78 or 79 3/4 ton ford

I myself prefer the 460 over the v10. The V10 was kind of a disappointment to me, not near as much low end grunt, it did sound very unique, like other 10 cylinder cars (mainly Italian) But the bottom line is a 460 is cheaper to keep and there is way more aftermarket for it than the V10 will ever have.
