i have a floor shifter on my 72 f100 and it is a POS. i would like to put it back on the column but im not sure how hard it is or if i should jus invest in a better floor shifter any ideas??
Automatic or Stick? If you have one of those cheapie 3spd shifters, YES they are JUNK. Spend some money and get yourself a Hurst comp plus 3spd shifter and you'll be much happier.
If automatic, yes they make lots of junk there too.
Depending on which you have, the 3 spd would be harder to get back on the column. They are finicky and can be worse then a cheap floor shifter for jamming up.
Barrett, I have a B&M Quicksilver that has over 100k miles on it with no problems. The hardest thing is getting it set up with the location and most of all wiring up the safety switches. They also make extended handles for trucks. If you order one also get the 5' control cable which makes it easier to route around the tramsmisson and exhaust. Summit or Jegs.
