Well my brother just rerouted the old belt that was squealing and now it aint squealing. I went by how the diagrm says to do it but he went another way and everything works. Strange. Prob will carry destroyed belt and get another replacement for spare.
Could it be your water pump is going bad? I know on my bronco the fan is directly bolted onto the water pump so possibly the water pump shaft may be messed up...
The water pump should only be like $30-40, but its kind of a pain to get in and out. The worst part is getting that stupid fan shroud off, but honestly it wasn't too bad to replace. Just make sure you are careful with the bolts and use PB blaster or something so they don't break off.
I think if that pulley is wiggling and it is securely bolted on, then the water pump shaft would have to be bad.
Yeah.. I know my fluid gets dirty so I should probably take that off sometime soon and clean it too. I know I slowly leak radiator fluid somewhere and I don't know where yet. I am hoping its just the lower radiator hose is old and need to be replaced, or that a clamp for one of the hoses is old.. but it kinda looks as if its coming from my water pump somewhere around the gasket. I don't really want to take that off again to redo the gasket but now that I have an electric fan, it will be much easier to get in and do that if I need to.
But I think the only thing that could be causing your pulley to wiggle would be the water pump.. and if it's wiggling now it may only be a short time until it fails completely...
Did you use a dry gasket too, or just the RTV? If I recall correctly when I did mine, I let it sit for about an hour or so then added coolant and drove it shortly after. I used both RTV and the supplied gasket though. However, I may have a small leak now at the pump but its been about 1 1/2 years. I think I added a little too much RTV, but I may just have a loose clamp on a hose somewhere that's causing the small leak and not a leak at the pump.
Anyway, you should be okay to drive within an hour or so, at least I was. Hopefully someone else chimes in too who knows a little more about the RTV settling time.
