Belt jumping off
I recently changed out my ac compressor, and since then my belt has jumped off the pulleys twice. I had a shop look at the pulleys to make sure they were aligned properly, and they said everything looks fine. The shop told me that the lid on my powering steering pump was loose, and that the fluid was gettng on the belt and causing it to jump off track. Does this sound right to anyone? I feel like I am still waiting for the belt to jump off again.

If the belt didn't jump off before the compressor replacement, I would have to guess that the new compressor is not aligned to the rest of the pulleys. That's providing no other component was removed and replaced for the task. When I replaced my PS pump, the belt was riding up on the pulley. I had to press the pulley in a smidgen, which cured the problem.
