Hello All,
I have a 2003 F-350 7.3 PSD, with one alternator. Recently I had the battery issue and replaced the batteries At no time did the battery light come on. Took a road trip to the river and the had to change the alternator. It did not drain the batteries to low, and was able to start the truck with no jump. Drove it about 250 miles to the river, was there for three days, then drove home. About 150 miles into the trip, the battery light came on. Stopped for dinner truck had no problems starting, lights are not flickering and going low at idle.
Got home and check both batteries and they both showed low and need to be charged, which i am doing now. My questions is when the alternator failed, could if have hurt the batteries? any help would be great.

How old are the batteries? I have heard of installing a new alternator with weak batteries will do strange things. Where did You get the alternator from? Was it new or reman? I would pull the alt and have it tested then I would have the batteries checked, and finally look over all the grounds on the truck for corrosion and replace and or clean them and re install
