I called these folks. We use Pollak brand at work. http://products.pollakaftermarket.co...blies/pn-1902?

Took 2 part numbers but cant find the receipt. One is the harness that plugs into to two grey plugs under the truck. The other is the 7 wire connector itself. Then I bought the trailer brake connector and adapter harness that connects the controller to the factory wiring. All of it for less than $120.

Crap. Forgot to mention for everyone reading. If you have a 97 tell them you have a 96. Pollak was the supplier for Ford.

Just the small harness from the two round plugs into the trailer plug.

Pretty sure blue is common brake lights (poss. brake controller), black would prob. be ground.

All the flat 4-wire trailer wiring stuff I've seen is brown (tail), green (right turn), yellow (left turn), white (ground). Never seen a second, larger yellow wire. The white/ground is usu. the one that's the opposite "gender" to the others.

Hopefully with the brake controller hooked up it will put power to the wires. Then to hook them up to the correct wires on the plug.

You can see the two relays OUT of the fuse box (toward the firewall) Relay 1 and Relay 2

I checked my fuse box and looked like all the positions were filled that the owners manual listed.

What is that reddish and white wires for?

But do you have the little box near to the fuse box which containts the relays for the tow package (IIRC charge battery and back up light), stamped with: RELAY 1 AND RELAY 2?

That is not my fuse box, maybe those wires are for some mod.

You talking about the little white one in the upper left hand side? All fuses and relays are in the box that the owners manual listed. Did not have those two wires though

I did this one mine...but I can't remember exactly. I'm pretty sure blue is for backup (as already stated). On the 7 pin connector, you have one for backup lights, and one that will be for battery lead. Check out this website. It helped me a bunch - as posted on a previous thread:

Trailer Wiring Diagrams | etrailer.com

Here's a prev. thread that might help:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ke-wiring.html

One the wiring harness that has the 3 and 4 pin connector - I was under the impression that the ford part numbers for these were no longer in production. You can read a little about this one the thread link above. My ford dealer could not get them, nor could any parts store around here. I ended up buying a 7-pin round connector with the 4 pin on the side and hard-wiring it in. But to avoid having to cut into my truck's wires, we used small butt connectors. If you get just the right size, you can crimp them on the ends of the trailer connector pigtail wires and plug the other end into the factory plugs under the truck. Worked great for me...until I can find a factory one.

Thanks Jose'. I'm quite so rushed to do that now. The excursion is running so can use that for pulling the camper but hopefully finish installing it next week. I think I got everything. Just going to hard wire it in because the connectors on the truck harness are corroded and one broke because of corrosion
