Hey all, Just started a new project. 65 F250 CC Camper Special. Been going through the mechanics of it. Four bent push rods and leaking rear axle seals. Havin fun now!
Question is what was so special about the Camper Special? Accessory's? One thing I came across was the sliding rear bumper. Was this AM or part of the CS package?
Also who is a reliable source for purchasing reman cyl. heads. for this 352? Gonna keep engine stock. Thanks for any info.
Mr. Wilson, can tell you better, but basically it is an add on package that would serve the purpose of hauling & using a slide in camper in the bed. Heaver springs, dual batteries, larger cooling, were some things included.
The bumper is aftermarket. It would be pulled out with the box in the bed.
Where are you located, maybe someone can recommend a local near you for the head work?
Thanks jowilker, That bumpers a little much. That'll be the first thing to go.
I'm in the Sacramento area. Half a world away from you. Don't know of any reputable machine shops around here.
Have you guys had any bad situations with these split rims? Are they even worth trying to get new rubber on them? Or should I just opt for newer style rims?
Thanks tyfly. I'll check into them. The truck had been sitting so long that the valves froze-up. I broke them loose and will throw a set of new push-rods in and keep my fingers crossed for now.
The split rims are dangerous to work on due to the tension in the ring holding it together. Most shops won't/can't work on them. I'd recommend replacing them.

Allowed the customer to purchase a pickup designed for camper hauling from the factory. There were 3 different levels of F 250 Camper Specials to choose from. The F 250 Camper Special package was actually introduced late in the 1964 model year run ( the straight axle Camper Specials were very rare).
