I am trying to replace the dust seal for my front axle. There is a snap ring that must be removed in order to remove the hub housing. I have gone through 3 different pliers and all have broke.
From anyone who has done this, can you please let me now where you bought the snap ring pliers that are heavy duty enough not to break, and long enough to work.
Yea, I'm not so worried about the pliers braking as I am about the clip not coming off. I think I will need to order some online. There ether not long enough to work or such poor quality that they break.
the big black pair have removable tips,,i drilled holes to mount thr tips on the smaller pliers, the black ones were too big to fit in the hub. I used the orange ones to open the ring enough to put asmall screwdriver between the ring and shaft then the orange pliers with black tips would fit... Got it all from a specialty tool store locally that also had the otc brand tool ro seat the new knuckle seal..
Wait,,, that's a pic of my gimble bearing on my boat,,,, sorry, but the tools are right. The orange pliers are like needlenose that open when squeezed. Where are you located? I'm about to spokane headed to mt vernon wa, then indiana, then kcmo...i would gladly stop by and pop em off n put it back if you're close,,,i ride with all my tools..
