that would be like going to a chevy forum and asking what kind of truck to buy
Yes, they are. But, they are also mostly all professionals that have their own body and paint shops, and do that for a living. So, my line of thinking is that they would possibly know more about the aftermath of working with that type of stuff. Honestly, I would like to see some of the pictures from the people on this forum that have had the POR15 and such on their vehicles for several years and longer. After it's been used and abused, so to speak. I would really like to see how well it has held up.
I am doing my own research in a way. I used some Chassis Saver on some of my frame before finding out about their epoxy primer. I am using that on other parts, and will report on my findings accordingly. Unfortunately, I have only had it on for a year or less, so time will tell.
Brad, I do enjoy seeing your work and value of your opinions. Maybe, I could possibly get you to consider trying some of their product, just to see for yourself whether it is as bad as you might think. I'm not trying to be a smart*** or anything. I'm just trying to educate and pass on some information to others about an excellent quality product and company that I have found. All any of us can do is put good information out there for others to make up their own mind by. Just saying.
There are others on this site that have used and continue to use and swear by the SPI product so I am not the only one.

I have seen POR15 used for over 15 years. Is has more than proved its self to me. I used to work at a body shop and that is ALL we used when we built tow trucks. I also live in the rust belt where Serious rust is a problem, even in 4 year old vehicles

That's great, like I said I wasn't trying to be a jerk or anything. All any of us can do is put good, quality information out there for someone to make their own informed decisions. I really do value your input.
Correct me if im wrong!! but<.< I thought por15 and chassis saver were both over rust paints and not for clean metals (IE: blasted, well sanded) I do believe in epoxy primers when used correctly and know I their value also. I have chassis saver on one of my trucks for just over a year now and its working good so far.

POR15 has been around for years; it seems like I've seen it advertised in Hemmings for as long as I can remember, and it been used on vehicles I've owned in the 20 or so years I've been in the old car hobby.
On all of the classic vehicle forums I've visited on a regular basis, I've heard nothing but positive comments about it.
If you have ANY doubts as to its ability to stick to ANYTHING, simply get some on your hands while applying it. Then try to get it off. Then try to tell me that you have doubts about its ability to stick.

I've actually had some on my hands before. When I finished what I was doing with it, I used this to get it off. very easily I might add.
I've seen it advertised for years too. And I've seen pictures of it after it's been applied for only a year or two. But, I haven't seen any pictures of it after it's been on say 10 years or so, of being used and abused. And, I'm not saying it's a bad thing.
I am currently wearing POR15 on my hands, forarms, legs(below the knees) and on my lower back. Lacquer thinner, mineral spirits, Acetone, POR thinner, gas, NOTHING will get it off your skin if dry. You actually have to shed skin cells to loose it
she's looking super sharp now.
yeah the stuff is mean.it takes several days.there's no point in trying to wash off dried por...been there done that, have the t-shirt.
looking good wish i would have had the funds to use it on my restore. as i have been reassembling mine i have found my paint job that i thought was a ok one is scratching off way too easily, but it is better than it was,for now.
About 12 years ago I used POR-15 inside a 3-wheeler gas tank. Too many pinhole leaks to solder up. Just looked at it today, still looks like the 1st time I sloshed that messy stuff in the tank! So far stale gas has not touched it in the years.
I am going to be getting my 84 F250 back running and I will be doing the Por-15 inside the cab. Just have to get the big compressor running and start blasting!
