Today I started with the Drivers side with new OEM UVCH and valve cover gasket install. 10 months ago I did the factory plastic shim for the UVCH. The problem was fixed till about 3 months ago. Every once in a while I would loose one side. Turning the engine off and on would fix it and it would run right again till the next time. I decided against the 50 cent mod, just did not like the idea just incase the plastic clip the holds the quarter in should break.
What I discovered today is that the factory OEM plastic shim is gone! The connector was slightly apart. Removed old harness and gasket and installed new harness and gasket. May do the other side today or tomorrow. Have not got it completely button up yet, will see how she runs in a few...
The OEM clips WERE NOT MISSING. At first glance I did not see the clip but later when I got to check it out closer the clamp was there. Even with the OEM clip/wedge the drivers side connection was apart enough where I could push it back together and see it close. The passenger side was tight.
My thought is that the OEM clip/wedge is a temporary fix at best. Do it right the first time and replace the harness and valve cover gasket.
