I have a 93 F150 and I want to put a trans temp gauge on it for pulling grain wagons and such. It has the e4od trans. I was looking for suggestions on a gauge and where to put the sensor for it.
And another question. For mirrors I have the non power mirrors on the A-frame type mount, is there an extension for a tow mirror?
the temp sending unit should go in the pan. when you buy a gauge the instructions will tell you exactly where to put it. LMC has extention towing mirrors the clip over these mirrors
I would put the senser in the output cooler line. Make sure it is in the fluid.
A Tee in the line normally works.
Too make it easy some aftermarket oil pans has a temp sensor boss machined in if you want it in the pan.
E4ODs have a pressure test port thats capped off on the drivers side of the transmission. Most transmission temperature gauge senders will probably have a sensor that can screw right into the test port - the one we installed did.
We compared the temperature the gauge reported to the one the internal sensor on the solenoid pack reported, and they were pretty much spot on.
