Hi everyone , after removing my engine for a rebuild i found flaky rust under the cowl area and after prodding and scraping at it its more advanced than i hoped for ....going right through into cowl gutter area which will need cutting and replacing of. My question is has anyone completely removed the cowl to do proper repairs and any pics i could look at . After studying it , im guessing screen out , gaurds off , drs off and unpick spot welds and should pop off. cheers steve.

That sounds about right. There's no easy way to do involved work. Take your time, do it right the first time, and don't take out too much metal without bracing the cab. You should be ok, but if the rot is too bad, when you're done cutting the rust out, you could let the front of the cab relax enough to distort where the windshield goes. Just keep an eye on the bottom of the glass when you're cutting. If you think it's gonna move around, stop and tack weld in a brace or two.

I doubt you'll have to go this far but if needed there are still three NOS cowl panels available.
