I don't know how old you are, but I know there'll be plenty of people here who know what exhaust cutouts are. Depending on their ages, they might even remember when they came out. :P

Had an old BMW with some work done to it in high school. Had cutouts just before the cats. I rigged a little second parking brake lever to pull them open or closed from inside the car.

Old enough, but not as young as some. Yep, I remember them, but not sure when they came out.
I remember watching those commercials when I was younger. I always liked the one where they haul and pull the other trucks up the hill. Maybe that's where my truck disease originated from?
I do remember those commercials (not the Mexican ones), although I was in college when the earlier ones aired and wasn't watching much TV. The later ones, though, I do remember. Interesting, how the commercials have changed, but are still so similar.

I was a teenager in the late 60's. We would use an old driveshaft tube and weld it in the exhaust and thread the end for a cap.
You could stop and get out the welding gloves, knock the caps off, think you were in hog heaven with your home made, imitation headers.
