On my car, $6k would pay for very few things. On the OBS, that $6k pays for a lot of stuff. That's the nice thing: These trucks have massive upgrade potential. It keeps your interest in the vehicle alive for a long period of time.
You know that the average person owns their car for 18 months? Well, I don't play like that!

lol hellllllll naw! if i added up all the toys and mods i have bought for my trucks i would go crazy. i find its better to just hand over the credit card and turn the other way
seriously, no i never want to add up what i have in any of my cars... esp my bronco!
I'm with cutts, I don't want to add it up. All I tell myself is that its a lot cheaper then a new one.
That's a great point, Glenn. Every time I am faced with an upgrade option on the truck, I think that $500/1000 could be a payment or two on a new truck. Good thing I don't like the look of the BFN trucks. And no manuals??? Forget it.
I did just today
8 glow plugs 8 cents
6637 filter $30.00
45 degree 4 inch elbow $35.00
tymar exhaust $300.00 (I think)
solid mass flywheel and new clutch $500.00ish
I look at it this way. no matter what truck i get weather it costs 8k or 28k, im still gonna be wrenching on it and upgrading it. so i just saved 20 grand lol, and then i feel better about spending a grand here and 2 grand there etc.
jason - out of curiosity what did you get for push rods and springs?
Most of the money I've spent was in fixing things right that the Ford dealer and a couple tire shops here already "fixed" for it the old man who owned it before me. They took him to the cleaners. This transmission rebuild I just did was long overdue. The forks and synchros were shot since I got it but there were receipts on file when I got it for three whole new clutches. The last one was supposed to include a new DMF but it was original and well worn out. See, if you want something done right just do it yourself. I'm saving money the way I see it. I quit Ford right when the 6.4 came out. Having to retool and equip my shop for lifting cabs off just to do simple maintenance would cost me a fortune. Plus I would never be able to trust a new one. Not after seeing my neighbors get it's 3rd new engine a couple months ago! It's a 2010 model f350 king ranch!
I got about $10,000 in my 97 crew cab on 52"s. I just got married and thought the extra income would help with bills but now it seems like I catch grief when I wanna spend $ on the truck
i was just thinking a bit.....if you have a truck with 200k on it- you've put about $40,000 dollars in fuel in it!!!!!!!!!!
Good point, now divide that in half (mpg) and you get $80,000. I also have almost 200,000 miles and at 10 mpg pulling that camper, that's scary!! You got me to do some math and so far on this trip I've covered 5,000 miles so I've spent 2 grand on fuel.
