Okay all kidding aside, once you R and R the points and condenser, bump the starter over with the cap off till the new points are full open... the feeler on the points must be on top of the lobe inside of the dist. once you are to that point set your gap, tighten everything up and put the cap and wires back on and you should be good to go. hope that helps out.
thanks jowilker, but I'm new to this game. When you mention R and R the points, I'm lost. I released the distributor cap, tilted it back, keeping wires attached, replaced the old points with the new, and that's where I am now. Truck was running great, then not. Uncle said points were closed, he adjusted them, ran good til home, now won't start. I also bought new dist cap and rotor. Maybe should replace as well? Bought feeler gauge too. I'm trying to learn, but never done any of this before. Thanks for your patience. Can you lead me again, step by step?
