Unhappy distributor cap 352

I cannot find a distributor cap for my 66 352! All the ones I have looked at have the #1 plug wire to the right (3 holes over) as compared to the one on the engine now. Truck runs ok on the old one, just want to replace the old cap!
Any ideas? Has my distributor been change?

Well, one you could always get a generic since where #1 is really only matters to you. As for Motorcraft I have the same cap, DH-6, on my 289, 302, 360 and 410 as I believe the V8 caps were the same for a long time after 1965 in the small blocks and FE engines.

I must be missing something here, please help me out.

My thinking the cap has to fit the dist. have 9 wire ports, that's it no more.

You lift the old cap place the new one on and start moving the wires to the same location as they were in before.

All the caps that I have ever seen had no #1 so how did this come into play.

Thanks Mike, but should he follow my suggestion will his cap work like it is supposed to. I didn't know the cap cared where the wires were plugged in.

Go to your favorite parts house and use what they give you.

Advance Auto has BWD Distributor Cap Part No. C154Z for $6.29

Oh, I agree John, as my first sentence said why not get a generic as where #1 is only matters to the user...

Does it also fit 1974, 1975, 1976 FEs WITH Duraspark electronic ignition?
I don't think the FE ever received the "new" style cap with male terminals.

I see rockauto lists different cap for a 1970 FE vs 1976 FE although they are both what I call "old" small caps with female terminals.
I don't remember what the difference is??

All vehicles had DuraSpark in 1976. The cap used on 1974/76 V8's with DuraSpark is D5AZ12106A (Motorcraft DH354) which is blue.

D5AZ12106A replaced B7AZ12106A (brown), the former hipo and H/D cap. B7A12106A is black.

Basically, D5AZ12106A will interchange with B7A12106A.
