Replacing Power Steering Gear.
On replacing the power steering gear on a 87 f-150 2X4 with a 302,
Question :
Does the steering wheel shaft slip on and off easily after losing the the bolt that combines the power steering box to the steering wheel.
I can easily take off the three bolts that hold the power steering box and the two lines for the power steering pump. Looking at the connection from the steering wheel shaft to the power steering box look like you might have to hold open something with rubber gaskets to get the power steering box out of the steering wheel connection.
I read the hayes manual and it just states to REMOVE and INSTALL but nothing about if there is some kind of lock besides a bolt CLAMPING them together.

Replacing Power Steering Gear.
Should just slide in and out once the bolt is taken out. Replaced the gear box in my buddies 95 ranger the other day. Make sure that when you reinstall it that the shaft slides back in far enough, and don't forget to locktite that bolt.
