Additives - another thread

i did a search and found a hundred threads on additives and none was conclusive and most related to engines other than ours (6.7L)

is there a consensus on (i) should an additive be used and (ii) if yes, which one

i ask specifically for the 6.7L engine only

thanks!!

I think most people will say yes to #1.

#2, I don't think you wil get a consensus....

I used stanadyne performance formula since the truck was new.
I switched to opti lube XPD a couple of months ago.
I notice no difference.

I think I will switch back to stanadyne mainly because the opti lube XPD they say to use twice as much in the winter.... Or maybe use XPD in the summer and stanadyne in the winter. We have had a couple of cold winters and I had no issues with the stanadyne.

Thanks

what about PS Diesel Kleen?

i have used it because it is found almost everywhere.

helps with centane and lubricity. maybe not quite as much lubricity help as others but....

if its not enough than i may have to look around for other options.

I believe all the power service products contain Emulsifiers. This is a HUGE no-no for the 6.7 engine.

You should stay away from ANY additive that contain Emulsifiers!

IIRC, I think Tom (Crazy001) contacted them and determined the PS Diesel Kleen does not contain emulsifiers and is good to go for the 6.7.

I am sure Tom will confirm shortly.

Thanks

I'm not sure which products contain emulsifiers but I do know that most of the PS products do. Hopefully the diesel kleen does not have emulsifiers as I've heard it's a good product to use.

Either way, whichever additive anyone chooses to use, just make sure it does not contain emulsifiers and you should be good.

Thanks for the info as well Darren!

Either way, it seems to be cleared up.
