We've got a trip coming up and was thinking of taking the scanguage out of my F250 6.0 and carrying it in our Ex V10 to monitor some things since this is our first trip in it since we bought it a couple of weeks ago. I know all the correct temps and specs for the 6.0 but am not familiar with what is supposed to read what when it comes to the V10 like the coolant temps, trans temp, etc. We arent going to be towing anything just me, the wife and 3 kids with luggage and a large cooler or 2 medium coolers, so nothing of any significant weight and we arent really going a long distance, just a trip down to Houston for a few days and a swing down by Galveston which is only about 200 miles from us. Thanks.
No trailer and my trans temp runs about 75-80 over ambient.
Do take it, if you happen to have any issues, you can at least run the scan. When I had a COP go bad, it didn't trigger the CEL, but did have a code pointing me at the right cylinder. An easy parking lot fix at the parts store.
My coolant temp had been around 190 the last couple of day. But that has been in stop and go traffic with outside temp of 100. My trans temp has been about the same, 180 to 190. All this is unloaded with the a/c cranked.
Oh, sorry, forgot to mention, F350 ccsb with V10, camper shell and carpet kit in bed.
'02 V10, water temp is usually around 175-183, though these last few days would have spiked it up to the 190 range if I had the SG on it monitoring. Trans temps run 130-160+ solo.
'05 (2V) V10, water temp usually 188-193 solo, trans usually in the 165-180 range solo.
Make sure to look up the programming codes to program your ScanGauge to read the trans temps from the 4R100. I'm pretty sure it's a different program/code than that for the 5R110.
