thanks, i am a native of South Bend Indiana, grew up with Studebakers and my dad and uncles worked there. i drove several sedans when i was a teen, and a pick up. but had no interest in big trucks till now.
I'd suggest doing a Google search for the Studebaker Truck Talk forum. They'll have your answers. Since I'm on the phone I can't do a link. It's a great site, and great group of guys. Stu
Absotutly, in fact Studebaker was the first automaker to introduce COE's, as I recall...in 1935.
Studebaker was also the first automaker to introduce a pickup based off a passenger car: 1937 Coupe Express, based off the Dictator 3 passenger coupe.
Next car based pickup: Ford Ranchero, introduced 20 years later...in 1957.
Suggest you join the Studebaker Drivers Club. There are regional chapter located throughout the US.
btw: Because of der Fuhrer (his enemies referred to him as "Herr Shicklegruber the house painter!"), Studebaker dropped the Dictator name after 1937, replaced it with Commander.
