i'm thinking this is the bump stop for the frame but i'm not too sure what this is. perhaps the gurus, techs and seasoned mechanics can chime in here and direct me.
what i need to know is what is it, what it does, what's the part number for the rubber donut itself, & how to replace it.
That looks like the middle row cab to frame mount, on a crew cab truck. It is one of the eight cab fasteners that I remove, in order to separate the cab from the frame when I'm doing head gaskets on these. That appears to be one of the driver side cab mounts, since I see the parking brake cable beside it. To access it will require unbolting the driver seat, lifting up the carpet and removing the rubber grommet. You will need a 24mm socket to remove the bolt.
Wow. Sounds like work. Mike is right. I think I saw 8 of them. The second pic is at the rear of the cab n just before the flatbed.. the first pic is at the same level as second pic except on passenger side.
Do these things affect my ride? Comfort I mean. I find myself bouncing a fair bit. Could this be the problem?
On a Crew Cab, there will be eight cab to frame fasteners in total. On regular and extended cab bodies there are only six.
As far as your ride quality goes, I'd be looking at your shocks before looking at the cab mounts. To be honest, I have never heard of ever having to replace them before, at least I haven't myself.
