Crew cab - cab concern

Guys,
New to me crew cab -'79
Took out rear seat to address a tiny bit of rust at the bottom of the rear cab- and found this.
I've never seen anything like this.
Are they stress cracks?
No signs of any accidents. Truck is pretty solid overall. You can see the seam that's rusted in the last pic but that's all I've found.
Needless to say this is quite concerning.
For clarification those are the rear cab body mount bolt access holes that you can also see in the pics.
Both sides have the cracks near the body mounts.
Anybody that has a crew cab let me know if anything about this area doesn't look factory.
Joints and seam sealer don't look like what I would have expected to roll off a factory floor.

Doesnt look good man, was the truck ever offroaded? Because stress craks come from metal becoming hardened from twisting or bending. As for the seam sealer on my crew its all pretty messy.

Not a CC expert but.......Looks to me like maybe those areas have been welded up and ground down before.......Looks like grinding marks all around the cracked areas......If that is the case, might be tough to get your welds to last, due to heat and metal fatigue.

That's from me and my wire wheel so I could see clean metal and try to figure out what happened.

Ok......couldn't tell from the pics.......I purchased a '97 F-Superduty Quigley conversion a few years back, that was all broken out like that at the rear seat mounts. I gas welded the cracks up, ground them off a bit then found some LARGE (3" diameter) fender washers and gas welded them on for reinforcement. So far so good. Judging from the way the seat springs were mashed down and broken, it must have been a couple of BIG guys running that truck all the time. It only had 76,000 miles on it when I got it. It had been a weed spraying truck up on an Indian Reservation in Montana.........

Rear CC mounts can and do crack. Not enough support there from day 1.

My 72 had the same problem..which also created cracks in the rear corners of the cab. Quite a bit of flexing going on. Whenever that cabs makes it's way back on the frame I had planned to add some extra cab supports off a highboy that will mount outside the frame.

OR...you could do this. Piece of 3/16 I had bent up at the local fab shop and I welded it right to the rear cab support and back of cab. Stiff!!!!

Holy cow.
Both outside cab corners, where most are rusted, have a tear like someone cut them with shears.

Guess this thing has lived a pretty hard life.

Def need to do some reinforcing.

Thanks for the replies fellas.

I would be willing to bet most of the older CC's lived a tough life after all they were called CREW CABS .....LOL.....not the sissified rug rat haulers they build anymore.....back then very few people bought them to haul the family.......unless maybe it was a ranch family......the majority were used as work trucks to haul the crew to the job........and got used like a work truck!!!
