Got another toy

Since my Scab won't be done for a while and I need a truck, I figured I'd look for another. Found this F250 for $500 and jumped on it (400 4spd). It runs, pretty well actually, but the po thinks it has a blown hg. The only other things it needs to be road worthy are brakes, tires and a windshield which I have. I figure I'll have it on the road in a month . I originally thought I'd buy it to swap the 8lug axles under my Scab, but after thinking about it I think I'm going to keep it as a trailer hauler. No plans for cleaning/fixing her up until the Scab is done, so she's not gonna be pretty but I don't care. Winter will be here soon enough and a strong 4x4 is good no matter the looks. :P

I am going to cut that extra 200lbs off of the front

Looks decent, and I kinda like that extra 200 lbs on the front, don't have to worry about a deer messing your truck up with that on there...

Great score and great price too. They pull more than that around here. A running truck is $1000. But they also don't get a ton for really nice trucks. Maybe $4K for a done one. I think you did great!

yeah, I figured worst case scenario I'd scrap it for what I have in it. :P Drove almost 4 hrs to get it up in Iowa.

I spent last night cleaning all the mud out of and out from under her and started fixing PO messes.. Already took about 50ft of misc wiring out of it that went nowhere and swapped a broken turn signal. I'm not getting front driver side turn/marker to light up so I gotta track down that issue today. After adjusting the choke, it runs even better so I'm starting to wonder if the hg are fine and it just needs tuned up.

Long haul for a good deal, but since you are already that far up north compared to us southern Mo folks, not to bad.

"dang craigslist..... "

Exactly, lol. On the bright side though, between my friend and I we are slowly dragging every truck we can back to this area. So far I've been to Iowa, eastern MO and wichita KS for trucks. Hopefully after this one is done and I get a good trailer, I can go to OK/AZ/etc and get some rust free ones.

well, pretty sure the hg is blown as it blows smoke and is losing water,, oh well. I'll have it fixed soon. In the mean time, I got the replacement windshield cleaned up and ready to put in, a non-broken grill and a solid back window. I also took apart the rear and found 4.10 gears and LSD. Was going to replace the brakes but nobody here sells the socket to get the drums off, gna have to order it I suppose.

I cleaned the interior up and tried my AM radio, works fine other than the only speaker (one in the center dash) sounds wore out. Sorted out my turn signal issues, removed the broken bug guard and am just fixing whatever little things I find. Ready to start driving her.

OHH, also made a trade with my friend, 90's style stepside (flare?) bed for a set of 33" boggers on rims. I'll try to get a pic of them in the next day or two when I get them on.

Also, just picked up a 78 shortbed frame and body for $100. It's got the bed on it I mentioned before that I'm trading a friend for some boggers. Think I'll restore the shortbed chassis and make a mud truck. I'll get pix of it tomorrow.

had to cut it off just to replace the broken grill, plus I don't care for it. My cutting wheel won't cut the half inch plates, so I gotta take it to a friends and use the torch. I'm gonna go ahead and make them into a couple short tow hooks.

It has one blue door panel and one green, blue is ok but green has a hole cut out for a speaker.

understood then, and to each there own...
Sounds like a good idea to me, 1/2" plate is good for everything!

Ahh, the driverside must be blue? it looks green in the pic?
that's a shame, why would they cut the door panel when theres a spot behind it? oh well...

Got the bed traded and the shoes on.

Paid $100 for this truck (bed was on it). Traded bed for boggers/wheels, pulled all the parts we needed and then scrapped the rest for $163. Not bad for a few hours work.
