Ok I bought a 1986 with a spun rod bearing. I bought a Ho 302 from 1990 lx mustang.
I pulled the truck engine put all the truck stuff on the car engine. but i used the car engines fuel injectors,(but i checked they are the same part number,(I broke one figured i would use the ones with less miles)
Ok here is the deal its all together and i have 40 psi rail pressure and i have injector pulse . but it won't start
I shot some parts cleaner in the plenum and it will run on it...
Any ideas?
what's the chances of all 8 injectors going bad or getting stuck from sitting for 8 years?

Did you get codes? Also, I'm not sure the build on that mustang engine is the same that the truck's computer is expecting.
Little over my head here on this one. I can deal with EFI in my Bronco because everything is original (by part number) and the computer is getting the input it expects.

Interesting thought. Maybe it needs the stang computer? Did sensor locations change? Different sensor type?

I would certainly think so. certainly a different cam profile, rest of the engine is probably the same, or very similar. May have different emissions equipment as well.
Pull the codes and it will tell you why it's confused.
I used every thing off the truck engine and it bolted right up. and plugged right in,
I even kept all the emission stuff. (I know but i may have to move back to missouri)
I do know it runs ok on starting(I mean brake clean its easier on the engine not as flammable as starting fluid. starts right up , its just not getting any fuel.
I do know the cam is wired like a 351w firing order.
I did run a scanner on it. code was for the pip(I think i think its the module in the distributor? I had it checked and is good) and the egr is out of range.
I got a good deal on a ford reman engine with low miles (he put a stroker crate motor in his mustang. he gave $1500 for the reman engine and sold it to me for $400.
Please Cut me a little slack I am a EFI noob. and new to the forum...
I would pursue the PIP problem. If you are not getting any signals from the dist to the computer, the computer will think the engine is not turning, and will not fire the injectors. The only way the computer knows the rpm of the engine, and where it's at in it's cycle, is the pulse signals from the distributor.
Not sure how would i check?
I used a noid light probe to check the pulse just plug it in and tried to start it
it flashes.I may try putting the drivers side fuel injectors.( the old ones) and see if it fires on 4

The PIP module is your problem. Did you use the truck distributor or the Mustang version? Be aware that the HO has a billet steel roller cam in it and therefore requires a distributor with a steel drive gear, so using the mustang distributor would be best but you could also use your truck distributor if you changed the drive gear.
They both had the same type gear
The car distributor was damaged , but I removed the gear and used it to prime the oil system with a drill before I started it
