Oil Temperatures

What is considered "normal" engine oil temp? When I run my truck down the interstate at 70-75 mph my eot gets up to 212-215 deg. Is this too high? Thanks.
99.5/7.3/6speed running 15/40 Rotella conventional. 80 deg outdoor temp with the a/c on, using 65 horse tune around 2200-2300rpms, unloaded pulling some smallish to medium size hills.

210 pulling a trailer in 70 degree weather is normal on mine. Higher temps may be seen, if the outside temp is higher. 212-215 is not overly hot though. You can put in a lower coolant temp t-stat to drop them too.

Ken, I just went on a trip and saw as high as 226f, is that too high?
What is the highest I would want to see sustained?

And not to get too far off topic but tranny temps shouldn't be sustained at more than 220f, is that correct?

I've seen oil temps above 250* pulling hard and heavy. Todays oils are not as temp sensitive then older oils.

Thanks Joe.
I'm looking to set my upper limit alarms for my gauges, what do you suggest?

Mine is set at 215*, by isspro before I could adjust them... I just yesterday got my prototype stuff to program the performax gauges myself. It will be set at 230* before I leave today! LOL
