engine temps

I have a 10 mile drive to work every day. With my Edge Evo, my engine oil temp does not reach normal operating tempature when the temps are 20-30* outside, is this normal? I would think a big V8 would warm up faster?

Yup mine does the same thing. I drive about 10 miles to work and my oil temp doesn't come up that quick. Once the coolant temp gets up to temp the oil comes up quicker. By the time I get to work my oil temp is around 140.

So if I block off my grille a little, will this help with my oil temp also? I'm guessing low oil temp does not help with my MPG either!

It would yes, but then you risk running the coolant temp to high. Don't worry about the oil temp, the only time I would worry about it is if it gets too high. Being that it doesn't get to hot during the week when I drive to work, I'll take it out on the highway on the weekend and let it get up to temp then. In the summer time your oil temp gets up to temp quick. The only temp I know of that makes the trucks gas milage suffer is the coolant temp not the oil..

Oil temp comes up slow on these trucks because they have an oil cooler you can see it right behind where the oil filter screws on.
