Dead brake lights and weird wiring
I tow with a 2004 F-350. All the lights on the truck work properly.
I'm trying to figure out how to fix this. According to the diagram on the truck connection, facing the back of the truck, and starting at 12 o’clock, the six outboard connections are supposed to be:
#1 12v+
#2 RH turn/stop
#3 electric break
#4 ground
#5 LH turn/stop
#6 running lights
and the center #7 is the backup circuit.
But when I put a volt meter on the connections and get the wife to help, I find that #1 is the running lights, #4 is the constant 12v, and #5 is ground. The other pins remain dead.
So, I have these questions:
1) Do the connections marked on the socket tend to be different?
2) How can I have decent electric brakes, yet find no voltage on the other pins when the wife hits the brake pedal and maxes the controller switch?
3) Where should I first check for the dead brake light/turn signal wires?
Thanks so much!
