P0345 OBD code on 2004 F-150 5.4 with 265,000 miles
It started just like a lot of the other posts. One day without warning you pull up to a stop sign and it starts running terrible. You speed the engine up and it clears up until the next time you stop. So after reading some of the other posts on here I kind of suspected i had a cam phaser out of time.
But something confuses me. The error code says Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction Bank 2. The first thing I did was switch the CPS's between driver and passenger side and cleared the code. I wanted to make sure the sensor itself wasn't bad. No change, same code came back. Since it said Bank 2 I changed the VCT solenoid on the drivers side. Still no change, same code. Based on information from other posters if you unplug the CPS it will stop running rough and throwing the P0345 code. So I unplugged the driver's side and it still did the same thing. I unplugged the passenger side and it stopped. I plugged drivers side cps back and it still ran ok. Drove it several hundred miles and plugged passenger side back in and right away it went back to the P0345 code.
So what confuses me is if it the code keeps saying Bank 2 why does unplugging passenger side cps stop this from occurring? Isn't that Bank 1?
