Honestly bro, with the 6637 and open exhaust, thats about all i'd do as far as mods, since your looking for "cheap" mods. No offense, but depending on what you might consider cheap, thats about it..(its all i could afford as far as cheap). However, i'd put my $$$ toward preventative maintenance. Depending on miles on ride..etc, take a gander at RIFFRAFFDIESEL.COM, and check out the "cabinet kit". Gives just about every o-ring needed for the turbo, hpop, and fuel bowl, for where leaks are notorious for happening. The truck gots plenty of power for what it sounds like your throwing at it, so personally, i'd go for the "reliability" avenue....Congrats and welcome to the forum.

You will feel a difference with 6637 and open exhaust. I ran my truck for 5 years with just those mods before the mod bug bit me (and the cash).

Also easy cheap mod is Harpoon in tank. I would also say Bilstien shocks and good brake pads.

Hutch / Harpoon Mod

bypass filtrations for engine oil, trans oil, and coolant..(look up SpringerPop and/or WoodnThings for docs.)

Here's one of my faves; Failure Prevention Thread. Lots of good cheap things to work on.

It's nice to go fast, but better to keep going.

It is an industrial open airfilter that you can get at Napa for a hefty price or go through Riff Raff Diesel and get the pre-filter net that goes over the filter. I just added one on my wife's 7.3 Excursion. We just bought it and it had a KN filter setup, I kept the intake tube but changed out thr filter based on bad reviews and maintenance issues with the KN filter. On my 7.3 F350, I used the AIS system from Riff Raff.

6637 is the napa pn for an air filter, adopted as a modification in the 7.3 world used to remedy broken tabs common on the oem box and feed the turbo more air. Donaldson b085011 is superior and the Donaldson blue, exclusive to riff raff, even more so. Some other variants exist out there but 6637 has a simplistic ring to it to represent a common appearance and objective.

I would look at doing the Hutch and Harpon mods inside the tank, they are cheap and you might prevent him from having a problem later. The one you only need a plastic pipe cutter and the other you can do with hardware store components, no need to but a kit.

Reps sent for providing a well thought out answer with details pertaining to the source and function of the part.
