Hey guys,
Well early this morning I mean before the sun was up we pulled a 10x40 park model mobile home. That was a very bad idea considering the fact we had to back it up to put it in place. Well I think we blew the transmission. It is just pouring transmission fluid from in between the engine and tranny. Well I don't know exactly is wrong with the truck. maybe you guys have an idea. The truck is a 2002 Ford F250 4x4 crew cab short bed 6.8L V10 automatic transmission no mods to the engine or transmission known. Thanks for any help. If it is a blown tranny where can I get a rebuild kit or even a replacment.

It happened to me on a step grade pulling 10k. It turned out it was just a seal that blew, mine actually caught fire on the exhaust.
If i were you would have the tranny opened up and looked at. It is probably still good but while in there have them increase line pressure, billet torque convertor and add a dual disk. You wont be sorry and it will be worth ever dime next time you hook up.
we did this to the tranny in our little ranger after pulling 10,000lbs up the mountains, after it cooled down and we poured more fluid in it ran fine. and still does, never touched it and that was at least 50K ago... theyre all hard miles on that truck.
My nieghbor came over and said he thinks it might be the line from the cooler to the transmission since the way it is acting. I haven't had the chance to check yet though so I don't know. I am hoping it is what most of y'all are saying. Only when I get the chance will I tell. I will keep you guys updated thanks for all the help I really appreciate it because pretty soon here we are going for some more loads that our 86 F150 and 97 Expedition could not haul in a million years.

Been there, to much beer and hooking to a BIG Dodge...tranny fluid everywhere and a fire to boot..hard to live that down, but after I finally managed to get it home in limp mode and the tranny shop couldn't find anything wrong I brought it home added the fluid that they didn't check and she's good to go. I did end up flushing it as a precaution but found nothing suspect. I wish ya luck
yep just overheats, and as mine did hits the exhaust and makes you hope your insurance is paid up, it was out within a a minute or less, carry an extra couple quarts if you plan on towing anything heavy
Well great news I got it fixed today it was replace the transmission fluid. I got to flush it one of these days but I for now it is doing great. The truck is running like a top again. Thanks guys if it wasn't for you I would have spent $400 for nothing really. Thanks alot really you helped us alot. Now we are stocked up on tranny fluid now. It used a whole gallon to fill it up but a gallon of tranny fluid is alot cheaper then a new transmission.

After reading this I feel like a fool the same thing happend to me when I was backing into a camp site it was up a nasty hill and all the Trans Fluid poured out I thought the Trans was toast so I had it towed to ford and $2800 later I was back on the road
